The Storm Teaser
Excerpt
I’m just mid piss when I hear my baby girl’s sleepy voice from behind me, “Dada, why I not have a peenis?”
Shifting to the side so that I’m covering myself from Belle’s view, I glance over my shoulder, a chuckle escaping me. “’Cause you’re a girl, Beauty.”
“But I wanna be a boy, like you, JJ, and Billy.” She juts her lips out, pouting. “I wanna peenis!”
She’s standing there, demanding a penis, in her Disney princess pajamas, with her arms folded across her chest, her foot tapping.
God, she is exactly like her mother. Not that Tru ever wanted a cock—well, aside from mine inside her, of course.
But Belle has Tru’s steely determination, and she looks exactly like her mother, which means trouble for me when she’s older.
But like I know how to handle my wife’s temperament, I know how to handle Belle.
“Okay, Beauty, how about this?” I say in a pacifying tone, holding in my laughter. I tuck myself back into my pajama pants and go to wash my hands. “Why don’t you ask Santa for a penis for Christmas?” The second that I’ve said it, I know that it sounds all kinds of wrong. It’s so wrong that I wish to God I could take it back.
“Santa, give me a peenis!” Belle starts squealing, jumping around and clapping her hands.
“Fuck. Shit! No!” I panic as soon as the words leave my mouth, knowing exactly what Belle is like.
A goddamn parrot is what she’s like.
“Fuck! Shit! Santa, peenis!” Belle starts to mimic, hands still clapping together.
Crap. Tru is going to kill me. Kill me dead.
“Christ.” I cover my face with my hands. “Belle, no.”
I reach down and pick her up. She wraps her little chubby legs around my hips, her hands clutching at my neck.
“Don’t say those words. Bad words.” I touch my fingertip to her nose, staring into her big brown eyes—Tru’s eyes.
“Fuck. Sh—”
“Bad words,” I reiterate, giving her a serious look. “We do not repeat those words. Ever. And especially not in front of Mommy. Okay?”
“So, Santa gimme peenis if I say no bad wowds?”
“Oh God,” I groan.
“Santa! Peenis!” She giggles.
“Breakfast, Belle!” I exclaim. “You want some Frozen cereal?” I say to distract her.
That fucking annoying Disney film is her favorite, and she will only eat that particular brand of cereal.
“Fwozen!” she shrieks.
Then, she launches into the chorus of “Let It Go” as I carry her out of the bathroom, heading downstairs to the kitchen where my tribe should be.

Prologue
LIFE OFFERS EVERYONE messages. Either unnoticeable or obvious, it’s up to us to pay attention. I didn’t pay attention. Instinct tried to take notice; the world tried to prevent my downfall. I didn’t listen. I’ll forever wonder what would’ve happened if I did pay attention to those messages. Would I have survived? Would I have fallen in love? Would I have been happy? Then again, perhaps just like messages existed, fate existed, too. And no matter what life path we choose, fate always has the final say. I didn’t listen but it doesn’t mean I didn’t live. I just lived a different tale than the one I’d envisioned. Away from my home. Away from my family. Away from everything comfortable and familiar. But I wasn’t alone… I was with him. And he became my entire universe.

Shock wasn't a big enough word to describe how Lily felt, looking up to find Marc staring at her in that ballroom. Anyone else. It literally could have been anyone else – her father, Mickey Mouse, Hitler, and she would've been less surprised. Marcelle De Sant wasn't real, anymore. He was a figment of her imagination, something that usually only appeared late at night, when she was alone and missing a more dangerous time in her life. Besides, wasn't he supposed to be in Brazil!? Wasn't he ... anywhere she wasn't? Wasn't he not quite this good looking!? It's unfair that such a dick can be so good looking. Dancing with her was bad enough. They'd fought, as had always been in their nature, but it wasn't the same. She hated him. He'd lied to her, and he'd manipulated her, and he'd abandoned her. Told her she wasn't good enough, then told her to go home. She loathed him. And yet, his arm was around her, and his eyes were so blue, and she'd missed him so much. Rat bastard. And of course, along with fighting, their other old friend made an appearance – bad luck. Next thing Lily had known, she was being dragged upstairs and shoved into a bedroom. There was arguing. There was kissing. So really, it was just like old times. The bedroom door swung open, but she barely registered it. Marc's hands were moving over her body, pressing down on her breasts. He moved one lower, sliding it over her hip and around to her ass, pulling her away from the wall and into himself. She ran her hands down his chest and worked them under his jacket, smoothing around to his back. She bit into his bottom lip and that earned her yet another groan, followed by his tongue filling her mouth. Acting a part, acting a part. Not enjoying this at all. Nope, nooooope. People were in the room. Someone was barking questions in Spanish. Marc ignored them, and the hand on her ass suddenly moved and grabbed her thigh, yanking her leg up to his hip. She made a big show of pulling his belt apart, all while his mouth moved down her neck, leaving sloppy wet kisses in its wake. His hands were back at her chest and buttons flew as he yanked open her blouse. One hand went down the top of her tank, and suddenly Lily didn't care that they had an audience. Marc was touching her again, that was all that mattered. “Excuse me!” a voice barked out. “You cannot be in here. You go now.” Marc's free hand began rooting around in his pocket, and he pulled out a handful of pesos. He held them out to the nearest guard. “We go in twenty minutes,” he panted, shoving the money into an open hand. “Twenty minutes? Jesus, that's disappointing,” she gave a husky laugh, then moaned when the hand on her breast squeezed. “Alright. Twenty minutes. We come back, and you leave room,” they were warned. But neither of them could answer, as their mouths met again and their tongues moved against each other. Her mind had registered the length of time since he'd left her, but her body didn't notice it at all. It recognized his touch as if they'd been together just the day before; like no time had passed. It made it all even worse. Her brain had done a good job of pretending it was over him. But her body had longed for him for six months. Had missed him. Hadn't understood why he'd left. That thought brought her to her senses, and Lily abruptly shoved him away. They were both breathing hard. Marc's pants were undone and Lily's blouse was hanging open. Her matte red lipstick was smeared across his mouth and chin. She took a deep breath and smoothed her hands over her hips. “Okay, we need to figure this out, right now,” she told him. “Alright,” he agreed, though he seemed a little dazed. She resisted the urge to smirk. “I didn't come here for you. Nothing I've done in the last six months has been for you,” she lied. “You're not a part of this. You were never a part of this, except for a couple weeks in Africa. I will not let you ruin this for me again, De Sant. When we walk out of this room, you're going to leave the house, and I'm going to finish this job.” Marc's daze wore off and he glared as he put his pants back to rights. “I've been a part of this since the moment you opened that safe, and you know it. What do you think I've been doing this whole time? Fucking vacationing? I'm not exactly getting paid for this shit.” “No one asked you to do any of this shit. You just took it upon yourself. You just ran away and decided to solve a problem that wasn't even any of your business.” He flinched and Lily smiled. “I thought you'd understand,” he grumbled, glancing in a mirror that was behind her. He yanked off his bow tie and used it to wipe at lipstick around his mouth. “Then you thought wrong.”

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish.
This week's TTT is Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

1. Beyond Innocence by Kit Rocha. This is the sixth (!!!!) book in the Beyond series and it's the one we've all been waiting for. Jared! And let me tell you, this book lived up to my expectations. If you haven't read this series yet, you might want to get on that before Beyond Ruin is released because that's going to be one hell of a book!

2. Claimed by Elle Kennedy. Claimed is the first book in Elle's new Outlaws series and she started off with a bang. It's a post-apocolypitc world filled with complete awesomeness. Addicted will be out in June of next year and I'll be reading that book at 12:01 on release day for sure!

3. Burn by Suzanne Wright. This author can do no wrong in my eyes. Most of her books are paranormal romance and Burn was just one example of why she's so awesome. She writes these characters that get books all the time (vampires, shifters, demons) but she writes them all with a twist, it's like you're reading about a whole new species every time. Honestly I could have picked any book she released this year because they were all awesome.

4. Sustained by Emma Chase. This book is the second in The Legal Briefs series and it was for sure my favorite. We get Jake and Chelsea's story and I think the best part was not only watching Jake and Chelsea fall in love, but watching Jake fall in love with the kids as well. I can't wait to see what Emma writes next!

5. Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley. Okay, a Kristen Ashley book on my Top Ten list. No surprise there! But this book was the fourth in the Chaos series and it might just be my favorite. If I'm honest, I could have picked any book Ms. Ashley wrote this year because I loved them all but the Chaos boys have a special place in my heart.

6. The Duet by R.S. Grey. Okay, I know this book wasn't released in 2015 but in my defense this was my first book by R.S. Grey and it's what made me fall in love with her writing! Her wit and humor and romance completely won me over and she went on my auto-buy list.

7. Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole. Kresley's Immortals After Dark series will always be one of my all-time favorites. The cast of characters she's written into this crazy world filled with every kind of mythological creature you can think of are most definitely my favorites. This series needs to go on for another 40 books and maybe I'll be satisfied.

8. Truth or Beard by Penny Reid. I love Penny Reid! She's definitely one of my favorite authors and choosing just one of her books from this year was hard But the Winston brothers have a special place in my heart and Beau and Jessica's story was everything I wanted. I can't wait for the upcoming books in this series!

9. Pucked by Helena Hunting. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard as I did when I read this book for the first time. (yes, first time, because even though I read it in March, I had to read it again in October just because I couldn't help myself) The third book in this series releases early next year and I'm counting down the days!

10. Chase Me by Tessa Bailey. I absolutely loved this book. It's a short book so I read it in an afternoon and I wished it was 400 pages longer. All three books in this series are now published and while I loved them all, Louis and Roxy are most definitely my hashtag-relationship-goals.

THAT WAS SO HARD. But they're my Top Ten Best Books I Read in 2015. What are yours?

It's a lie they almost believe.

Excerpt
“I’m going to remember this as the worst time in my entire life. The very worst.” She shook her head. “There is nothing I can do to change that. Girls my age are playing sports, going to dances and parties, kissing boys. And that’s never been me. I’ve had a full time job at the grove and a part time job at the Stop-N-Shop. I’ve done nothing over the last few years except work my ass off and watch my family fall apart. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse…now all this.” She waived around to the house and to me and let out an awkward laugh. She took another hit off the bowl, passing it back to me. Her coughing much less than it was on her first try.

“Ti, how old are you?” I asked, clearing my throat as I ventured into territory I knew I shouldn’t. She was a pistol, even if she was a sad one, but there was a wave of innocence about her that had me both feeling bad for her and salivating for a taste of her.

This is for her, not you. I told myself. It was only a partial lie.

“Seventeen,” She said, sniffling. “Eighteen soon.”

“You ever been kissed?” I asked, her eyes met mine. “And not a peck on the cheek or a brief smack of the lips, but a real fucking kiss? One that leaves you without air in you lungs and your thighs pressing together in search of more?” I said, my voice coming out deep and strained. My cock coming alive at the thought of tracing my tongue along her pump lips.

“Why?” She whispered, and as soon as the words left her mouth I knew there would be no coming back from what I was about to do.

I pushed off the fire pit and pulled her up off the chair, pressing her tits into my chest and my straining cock against her stomach. I tipped her chin up and looked into her confused emerald greens. She followed my thumb with her eyes as I traced her bottom lip. There were too many lines marring her face, questioning what it was I was up to. I knew she would try to pull away at any second, try to stop me. But it was too late for that.

I was beyond stopping.

Just one taste.

“Answer the question,” I pressed.

“No,” she said with a slight shake of her head, and before she could try to argue, I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers.

I was already going to hell.

Might as well enjoy the ride there.

The finale to Bear and Thia's epic love story.
