April Favorites

I read 25 books in the month of April and these are my standouts...

1. Archangel's Heart by Nalini Singh
I don't know why the hell I waited so long to read this, maybe I was saving it to get me out of a reading slump (which is what it ended up doing). I love this series. If I had to choose between this and Nalini's Psy-Changeling series I honestly don't know if I could, that's how good she writes. If you haven't checked out any of her books I suggest you start!

2. Midnight Target by Elle Kennedy
This was the finale of Elle's Killer Instincts series and while she may be known more for her Off Campus series, THIS is my favorite series she's ever written. This will go down as one of my all-time favorite romantic suspense series because not only are the men badass mercenaries, the women are badass assassins as well! Now that the series is compete it is one that you can binge and fall in love with characters you'll never forget.

3. Lost and Found Sisters by Jill Shalvis
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book (which isn't out until June boo) and it was classic Jill Shalvis. You get a hilarious cast of characters combined with the quirky goings on of a small town which equals success in my book. I will be reading Jill Shalvis books until the day I die.

4. Shacking Up by Helena Hunting
This is probably my favorite Helena Hunting book since Pucked came out. It was hilarious and romantic with a dash of angst. Another ARC that I received that will be out at the end of May and definitely worth picking up if you love HH books!

5. The Cad and the Co-Ed by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid
I've loved all the books in the series thus far and this one certainly didn't disappoint. This duo of authors manages to write hilarious books with sweet and sexy romances that have real life problems and you keep wanting more. Looking forward to more stories by these two authors.

6. Silver Silence by Nalini Singh
Sorry! I had to throw this one in here. When I got approved for this ARC I might have thrown out my back doing a happy dance. I don't want to give too much away because I'll have a review closer to the pub date but I loved the new cast of characters we got and I might have to read it again next month because it was that good.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I read in 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish.
This week's TTT is Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2016!

Okay I know its been forever since I did a TTT but I had to do the best of '16! So in no particular order here we go..

1. Bounty by Kristen Ashley
I totally begged for an ARC of this book and I loved it so hard. I've said it before and I'll say it again—I love Kristen Ashley books. I re-read all of her books once a year and yeah. Give me more KA.

2. Spiral of Need and Force of Temptation by Suzanne Wright

Two books in The Mercury Pack series released this year and I loved them. Suzanne Wright is one of those authors that I can read whatever mood I'm in and I know I'll love it.

3. Idol and Managed by Kristen Callihan

I waited until Managed was released to read this series and I was so mad at myself for waiting! I loved it! And I've had a serious lack of hot rockstar reads lately so this was the perfect start to the VIP series.

4. Beyond Ruin, Beyond Ecstasy and Beyond Surrender by Kit Rocha

The three final books in the Beyond series were released this year (holy crap what!) and I loved them all. I may or may not have cried a bit when I finished Beyond Surrender because this is one of my all-time favorite series forever and ever but the authors are writing another series in this crazy world they created. Looking forward to Ashwin in 2017!

5. Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis
This one isn't actually out until 2017 but I snagged an ARC (lucky me!) and totally fell in love with Archer. So I'm cheating! Seriously though, I call dibs on him Jill!! Hoping there are more books to come in this series!

6. Archangel's Heart by Nalini Singh
Yessssss. I binged this series last year, or early this year I forget, and I was kicking myself for waiting so damn long to read them. They are amazing and I want this series to have 50 more books, deal Nalini?

7. Addicted by Elle Kennedy
It's no secret I love me some post-apocalyptic books and Elle totally killed it with her first book in this series Claimed. Addicted was amazing and I haven't gotten a chance to read Ruled yet—which I read is the last book in the series noooooooo!—but definitely one of my favorites!

8. Beard Science by Penny Reid
I love me some Penny Reid—it's no secret. I totally fell in love with Cletus and I've heard whisperings we may get more of him and Jennifer! If you haven't read this series YOU NEED TO.

9. The Saint, The King, The Virgin and The Queen by Tiffany Reisz

Okay, I know the final book in this series came out in 2015 but I couldn't bring myself to read it because I didn't want this series to end. Tiffany Reisz books grab your soul and squeeze. Hard. One of the most well written series I've ever read.

10. Royally Screwed by Emma Chase
Give me Emma Chase books or give me death! For real though her books are always so good with a mixture of humor and romance and just look at that cover. LOOK AT THAT COVER. I need to go buy this in paperback asap. But if you're looking for male POV books Emma Chase slays.

Release Day Review: The Score by Elle Kennedy

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

My Review
Elle Kennedy's Off Campus is one of my all-time favorite NA series. In fact—The Deal was one of my top reads of 2015. I love hockey and I love snarky/witty/lovable characters and this series is chock-full of them. And can I just say, I have a total girl-crush on Elle. Every book that I've read of hers I've loved.

"Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis is the biggest flirt on the planet. Every time I see him he's trying to get in my pants. And I can't even feel special about it, because he tries to get in everyone's pants."

To say I've been patiently waiting for Dean's book would be a lie. I've been dying to read his book! There's almost nothing I love than a reformed manwhore and Dean takes it to a borderline-new level. I've been dying to find out why he doesn't take girls to his room. I've been dying to find out what his beef with Sabrina was. I just want to dissect this sexy man and learn everything about him. What makes him tick.
I know a lot of people were hoping for Sabrina to be Dean's love interest but I'm kind of glad that didn't happen. I've read a few too many enemies-to-lovers books lately and Allie was the perfect girl for Dean, at least in my eyes. Allie is just coming off a break-up with her long-time boyfriend Sean. They broke up for a reason that a lot of college aged-kids break up—they're going in two different directions with their lives and sometimes no matter how much you love each other, it just won't work.
Allie isn't looking for another relationship–she's spent the better part of her life in them—and Dean is about as anti-relationship as they come. It's a perfect scenario for a no-feelings fling, right? Wrong.

The only problem is—I like the strings. Sex and relationships go hand in hand for me. I’m all about the snuggling and inside jokes and talking late into the night. I’m a card-carrying member of Team Boyfriend, and after last night, I can honestly say that Team One-Night-Stand sucks balls. The sex was incredible, but the shame it left me with isn’t worth the orgasms.

Feelings get involved. Real life gets in the way. Will Allie and Dean make it? (that sounds vaguely ominous) Don't fret—this author sucks you in from page 1. Elle includes some of the funniest dialogue filled with the wittiest banter you'll ever read in a New Adult book. Also, the dirty talk? Dean can sext me in public any-freaking-time he wants to.

“The messages keep popping up, each one filthier than the last.
Gonna take it slow next time. Savor every single second.
So fucking slow, baby. Just slide in and out of your tight pussy…
Until you’re begging for more.
I grab my glass and choke down some water. I’m aware of Dean’s soft chuckle, audible even with the music blasting in the bar.”

I kind of wish this series could go on forever, and holy-crapola that ending! My eyes need to read Tucker's book ASAP.
If you're looking to read a book that will make you laugh and cry, The Score is for you.

*I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Don't miss the other books in this series...

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish.
This week's TTT is Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

1. Beyond Innocence by Kit Rocha. This is the sixth (!!!!) book in the Beyond series and it's the one we've all been waiting for. Jared! And let me tell you, this book lived up to my expectations. If you haven't read this series yet, you might want to get on that before Beyond Ruin is released because that's going to be one hell of a book!

2. Claimed by Elle Kennedy. Claimed is the first book in Elle's new Outlaws series and she started off with a bang. It's a post-apocolypitc world filled with complete awesomeness. Addicted will be out in June of next year and I'll be reading that book at 12:01 on release day for sure!

3. Burn by Suzanne Wright. This author can do no wrong in my eyes. Most of her books are paranormal romance and Burn was just one example of why she's so awesome. She writes these characters that get books all the time (vampires, shifters, demons) but she writes them all with a twist, it's like you're reading about a whole new species every time. Honestly I could have picked any book she released this year because they were all awesome.

4. Sustained by Emma Chase. This book is the second in The Legal Briefs series and it was for sure my favorite. We get Jake and Chelsea's story and I think the best part was not only watching Jake and Chelsea fall in love, but watching Jake fall in love with the kids as well. I can't wait to see what Emma writes next!

5. Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley. Okay, a Kristen Ashley book on my Top Ten list. No surprise there! But this book was the fourth in the Chaos series and it might just be my favorite. If I'm honest, I could have picked any book Ms. Ashley wrote this year because I loved them all but the Chaos boys have a special place in my heart.

6. The Duet by R.S. Grey. Okay, I know this book wasn't released in 2015 but in my defense this was my first book by R.S. Grey and it's what made me fall in love with her writing! Her wit and humor and romance completely won me over and she went on my auto-buy list.

7. Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole. Kresley's Immortals After Dark series will always be one of my all-time favorites. The cast of characters she's written into this crazy world filled with every kind of mythological creature you can think of are most definitely my favorites. This series needs to go on for another 40 books and maybe I'll be satisfied.

8. Truth or Beard by Penny Reid. I love Penny Reid! She's definitely one of my favorite authors and choosing just one of her books from this year was hard But the Winston brothers have a special place in my heart and Beau and Jessica's story was everything I wanted. I can't wait for the upcoming books in this series!

9. Pucked by Helena Hunting. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard as I did when I read this book for the first time. (yes, first time, because even though I read it in March, I had to read it again in October just because I couldn't help myself) The third book in this series releases early next year and I'm counting down the days!

10. Chase Me by Tessa Bailey. I absolutely loved this book. It's a short book so I read it in an afternoon and I wished it was 400 pages longer. All three books in this series are now published and while I loved them all, Louis and Roxy are most definitely my hashtag-relationship-goals.

THAT WAS SO HARD. But they're my Top Ten Best Books I Read in 2015. What are yours?

Waiting on Wednesday #48: Claimed by Elle Kennedy

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, it spotlilghts upcoming releases that we are dying to read.

This week my WoW is ... Claimed by Elle Kennedy!

The bestselling author of the Killer Instincts novels “knows how to write scorching sexual tension” (USA Today). Now she really sets it on fire in a new series about men and women living on the edge of violence, sex, and life and death.

After a devastating war decimated most of the world, Hudson Lane has only known the oppressive life under her own father’s tyranny. She finally escapes, branding herself an outlaw and hunted by the Enforcers. Her best chance at survival is Connor Mackenzie, an aggressively sensual fugitive who opens her eyes to the wicked possibilities of a world without rules.

As the leader of a band of outlaw fighters, Connor can’t resist the beautiful stranger who asks for his protection. Despite his reservations, he agrees to introduce her to a whole new way of life. But when Connor discovers Hudson’s connection to the enemies of liberty, he wonders how far he can trust the woman who has abandoned all inhibitions to challenge every forbidden desire.

Expected publication: October 6th 2015 by Signet
